Welcome to our X-Europe startup interview series. We have virtually sat down with a number of our founders from past cohorts to hear all about their solutions, vision for the future, and what made them tick during our X Europe programme. So whether you are a deep tech founder looking for startup support, an eagle-eyed investor, or simply interested in the possibilities that technology can bring to society, then we welcome you to take a read. Please meet Abroaded, the wealth-building platform made for people living abroad.
Can you briefly explain what your solution is all about? What’s unique about it?
Abroaden is a wealth-building platform made for people living abroad. We're the first transparent & affordable online investment service for expats and remote workers.
What led you to start or join your company? What is the key motivation and mission behind the startup?
I've lived abroad since 2002. I've always known that investing is important, however as I looked for financial products to meet my goals, I found that there weren't any good options for people like myself. The products out there were either too expensive, made for High-net-worth individuals, or outright scams. Abroaden came out of my frustration to build my wealth with the same advantages that non-expats have.
What’s the biggest milestone your startup has achieved so far, and what has surprised you most on this journey?
We have 40 percent manufacturing operation management growth on our early access list with almost zero ad-spend which, along with building our minimum viable product, are our proudest accomplishments. Starting a FinTech is waaaay harder than I expected.
How has X-Europe helped you during the past few months?
It's been a fantastic learning and networking experience. We're based in Barcelona, so it's been wonderful meeting startups from other parts of Europe, particularly in the Baltic and Visegrad states.
What are your goals over the next 3, 6, and 12 months?
Our immediate goal is to continue our marketing growth while getting ready to launch (we're awaiting final regulatory approval). From there, we'll launch our private beta testing then hit the ground running to take on Europe.
What advice would you give to an entrepreneur trying to pave his/her way in the Fintech landscape?
Build your market first through interviews and testing. From there, you can focus on the product.
What one piece of advice would you give your 21-year-old self?
Get a work permit before you finish your studies and make your life much easier.
What’s unique about the X-Europe program?
It's an incredibly international program bringing some of the best startups from around the EU together.
